So, yesterday I was given the greatest opportunity to go down to the Relief Society Conference in SLC with a bunch of great girls from my ward! It was such an amazing experience and the spirit in the conference center was so strong and my testimony was so strengthened from it. Every single speaker was incredible and i learned so many principles i can apply to my life. I want to start off with the beginning song number, We sang COUNT YOUR MANY BLESSINGS it was as if angels were singing it! It was so beautiful.
The first speaker was Sister Julie B. Beck. She brought up so many points I want to share. The first one being, [THE RELIEF SOCIETY MEETINGS ARE NOT THE SLEEPY MEETINGS ON SUNDAY] they are there to benefit us women in the church. Sometimes we hear about the ladies not feeling as important as the men but we are! She said the the purpose of the relief society, is to [PREPARE DAUGHTERS OF GOD FOR ETERNAL LIFE] in my opinion I don't want to be accidentally SLEEPING in that meeting. Sister Beck said that the [RELIEF SOCIETY IS HERE TO ELEVATE AND VALIDATE WOMEN] who wouldn't want either of those. . . The last thing that Sister Beck said that really stood out to me was, [FAITHFUL SISTERS DO WHAT'S RIGHT WITHOUT A NEED OF APPLAUSE OR RECOGNITION] the self satisfaction should be enough. Her talk was so amazing!
The second speaker was Sister Silvia H. Allred. She as well as Sister Beck had many great points to share with us. The first one right at the beginning of her talk was that [GOD IS A GOD OF LOVE] I cannot testify enough how true this statement is. I'm so grateful for my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ and the atonement that allows me to not only be forgiven of my sins but allows me to feel the LOVE of my Heavenly Father and Brother. The next point she made was [WE ALL HAVE A DIVINE & ESSENTIAL ROLE TO FULFILL AND CERTAIN ATTRIBUTES TO FULFILL THEM] what's your role? The next point she made put chills down my spine, she said [HE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU BECAUSE YOUR PAINS & SUFFERINGS ARE CONSTANTLY BEFORE HIM]. . . After these amazing points she gave us 4 ways that we can strengthen our faith
{[ 1 . PRAYER: MORNING AND NIGHT. . 2 . SCRIPTURE STUDY: WE NEED THIS EVERYDAY. . 3 . OBEDIENCE: DEVELOP ATTRIBUTES OF GODLINESS. . 4 . SERVICE: FAMILY HISTORY TEMPLE WORK. ECT. . ]}
I'm sorry I keep rambling on and on but this was the most amazing meeting.
The next speaker was Sister Barbra Thompson. She spoke on compassion and visiting teaching. The dreaded topic Visiting Teaching, and the funnest part is in her words, [IT'S NEVER DONE] she taught that visiting teaching is more than getting the monthly check mark down by your name saying you finished it, it's about compassion and love. The last quote she said I know to be true, she said, [JUST LISTENING BRINGS COMFORT]
Sister Beck then got up and said that we will be able to hear from our beloved Prophet Thomas S. Monson. I was soooooooooo shocked and sooooooooo excited that i could be in the actual meeting room where the Prophet of the only true church would speak to us, US WOMEN!
President Thomas S. Monson.
He had the delivered the greatest talk on Charity. But before he did that, stood at the pulpit and i began to cry, the spirit testified to me that this is the PROPHET of the lord on this earth today and I'm looking at him in person! In my notes i wrote down, (the spirit of the Lord is here)
He began to tell a story and the moral of it was, [ARE WE LOOKING THROUGH A CLEAN WINDOW FREE OF JUDGEMENT OR ARE WE JUDGING OTHERS WITHOUT ALL THE FACTS, (and comparing that to a dirty window)] I think that in today's world there are so many reasons we could sit around and judge people but, why waste the time and energy in our lives when, 1. we will never have all the facts like he said, and 2. we should have better things to be doing with our lives. He said [APPEARANCE CAN BE SO DECEIVING] i <3 this. He spoke of the importance of being beautiful on the inside. He quoted from an author I don't know but he said, [IF YOUR BUSY JUDGING PEOPLE YOU HAVE NO TIME TO LOVE THEM] when he spoke these words, there was a spirit that came over the room. and after that, he said [CHARITY NEVER FAILETH] he spoke [CHARITY IS THE OPPOSITE OF CRITICISM] and that [CHARITY GIVES, AND CHARITY IS PATIENT] he said [TRUE CHARITY IS LOVE IN ACTION] [IN A 100 small WAYS WE ARE THE MANTLE OF CHARITY, CHARITY NEVER FAILETH, BECAUSE CHARITY IS THE PURE LOVE OF CHRIST]
It was a beautiful meeting and i congratulate you if you made it to the end of my post. It was a long one but i had so much to say.
I look like a chubby bunny but i promise ordered a small salad!!! hahaha
